How Law-Change Monitoring Works
ShootingTalk Club includes law-change alerts. Here is exactly what the system currently monitors:
Which states?
All 50 states are monitored. Alerts are sent for states you have saved in your travel plans or permit profile.
Human review?
Yes. A member of the ShootingTalk team reviews each change before an alert is sent. We do not send automated alerts without review.
What sources?
Official state legislature websites, state police guidance pages, and attorney general publications. We link to the official source in every alert.
How quickly?
Most changes are reviewed and published within 7 days of the official source update. Urgent changes are prioritized.

What exactly is the ShootingTalk Club?
The ShootingTalk Club is a paid digital membership that gives you the full ownership toolkit: unlimited firearm tracking with personalized recall alerts, permit renewal reminders, multi-state travel planning, law-change alerts, saved searches, and access to six exclusive community forums. It has nothing to do with joining a physical shooting club or range — those are listed separately in our Shooting Clubs & Ranges directory.
What's the difference between a free account and ShootingTalk Club?
Free accounts can save one firearm for recall alerts, browse all public forums, use the reciprocity map, and find nearby FFLs and clubs. ShootingTalk Club adds unlimited firearm tracking, permit and maintenance reminders, multi-state travel planning, law-change alerts, saved searches, six exclusive forums, a member badge, and priority support.
Does the ShootingTalk Club give me access to a physical shooting range?
No. The ShootingTalk Club is a website membership only. Physical shooting clubs and private ranges are separate organizations listed in our directory — they have their own membership processes.
How does billing work?
Checkout is launching soon. When it opens, payments will be processed through Stripe, a secure payment processor. Your card will never be stored on our servers. You'll be able to manage your subscription, update payment details, view invoices, or cancel at any time through the billing portal.
When does my access start?
Access to all Club features is granted immediately after your payment is confirmed by our payment processor. We verify payment status through secure webhooks — not just the checkout success page.
What happens if I cancel?
Your premium tools remain active until the end of your current billing period. Your free ShootingTalk account remains available afterward. You will keep your profile, public-forum posts, and free-tier benefits. Items above the free-account limits — such as additional saved firearms beyond the first — will remain stored but premium alerts and editing options will pause until you renew.
Is this site safe for firearms-related discussion?
Yes. ShootingTalk is a community for lawful firearms enthusiasts. The ShootingTalk Club subscription covers digital membership features only — it is not used to process any firearms transactions, sales, or transfers.
